To foster environmental stewardship and encourage the buying of locally produced food as a way of reducing carbon emissions, provide living wages to local farmers and to support our local economy --- be one of 250 people to purchase a basket of food grown and produced by Greater Edmonton area farmers. The final deadline for Orders and cheques payable to Greater Edmonton Alliance is Monday, September 8th, 2008.
What¹s important is that you come in person on September 20th at 11:00 am to pick-up your basket and stand in solidarity with others to invest in a sustainable food system at Southminster-Steinhauer, 10740 19 Avenue, newest member of GEA.
Come to foster relationships and power with farmers/producers to protect their land from industrial development. Good agricultural land is the foundation on which sustainable local food production and a vibrant local foods economy rests.
